YAKUT SNOW SHEEP 

Five of Ovis nivicola subspecies currently inhabit territory of Russia: Koriak Snow Sheep (O.n.koriakorum), Yakut Snow Sheep (O.n.lydekkeri), Okhotsk Snow Sheep (O.n.alleni), Kamchatka Bighorn (Ovis nivicola) and Putoran Snow Sheep (O.n.borealis).

Yakut snow sheep inhabits mountains of Yakut Republic (Russia). The Republic is known as "Northern Diamond Land". About one third of Yakut land is located north of the Polar Circle. Even during summer time air temperatures may be below zero. The hunt is conducted at altitude 1,000 - 2,000 m (3,000 - 6,000 ft). The air temperature during the hunting season:

August - September +10 - +20 C (+50 - +70 F)

October 0 - +10 C (+30 - +50 F)

You will need warm, waterproof clothes. Hunting area are endless and wild open spaces. Here you won’t see a single human being for hundred kilometers, just deer breeders moving with their stock. Most of the territory of Yakut are tundra and mountain ranges. Snow sheep hunt is a stalking hunt. Horns of Yakut snow sheep may range from 80 cm to 100 cm (31 in.- 40 in.). There are EXPERIENCED GUIDES, interpreter, helpers in the camp. When you finish your sheep hunt you CAN HUNT FOR BEAR, GIANT MOOSE and REINDEER.

During this trip you will see nomadic people stations, the way of their life, national traditions. In Moscow we can organize sightseeing tours for you (THE KREMLIN, RED SQUARE, DIAMOND FUND, THE BOLSHOY THEATER, etc.)

Accommodation: in hunting houses, tents.

Transfer: 7 hr flight from Moscow to Yakutsk then 1 hour flight to Zirianka or Handiga, then 6-8 hr by car to the camp depending on hunting area.

3 day -helicopter flight to hunting area, beginning of hunt.

13 day -helicopter flight to Yakutsk, arrival in Moscow
