Whitetail - Saskatchewan

The Saskatchewan winters have been mild for nearly a decade now, and the whitetail deer, with great forage and super genetics, have flourished and matured. The older bucks and fawns, usually the most susceptible to winter’s harsh realities, have been thriving.

These whitetail hunts are a true wilderness experience. The only access into hunting camp is with All Terrain Vehicles (ATV). Most of the hunting is done by tree-stands and ground blinds all of which are heated. The outfitter will also use rattling antlers, decoys, grunt tube and hunting over bait to increase in clients success.

Their accommodations are top notch; warm cabins and lodgings set in the Saskatchewan north. They serve excellent home-cooked meals, steam bath / bag shower room, the service always comes with a smile, they can usually accommodate special needs diets. The hunting season normally runs from last week in October ( Archery / muzzle loader ) through all of November and into first week of December. Most stands are set for shots of 50-75 yards. The bucks are huge-bodied, upwards of 300 pounds, so they suggest rifles of .270 and up. Any of the magnums are excellent choices.

Outfitter runs a great operation in all aspects and has been doing so for over 14 years. Trophy quality in the hunting area is excellent and hunters should be focusing on a buck in the 140 class and over. Hunters should be concentrating on a buck in the 150 - 165 range. They have taken bucks in the 200 class so the genetics are there.
