The barren ground grizzly population on the vast tundra continues to grow and to expand it's range enabling us to offer this unique opportunity to a select few hunters. These hunts are conducted out of such communities as Tuktoyaktuk and Paulatuk. These hunts have been 100% success in the past.

Hunting is done using snow machines for transport which will enable hunters to cover far more ground than is possible in fall conditions; an obvious advantage when looking for these highly mobile animals. Hunters will ride in large wooden sleds that are pulled by their guides. The barren ground grizzly is well known for its ferocity. It fears no animal - man included - in its tundra domain.

In size, the barren ground grizzly compares well to the mountain grizzly of Yukon or Alaska. It is not as big though as the lowland grizzly that is found along the salmon rivers of British Columbia or Alaska. Exceptional specimens of barren ground grizzly may reach eight feet.
