Moose - Alberta
The Boone and Crockett
Club distinguishes three separate
classes of moose, the Alaska-Yukon variety, the Canada moose and the
Wyoming or Shiras moose. Alberta’s moose fall into the Canada moose
subset, a clear advantage to those seeking high scoring moose as little
separates the habitats many of Alberta’s moose occupy from those in the
Yukon or Alaska. According to Boone and Crockett’s First Edition of
Records of North American Caribou and Moose (1997), only British Columbia
has put more Canadian moose in the record books than Alberta, though
Alberta placed three moose on the list of the top ten of all time.

inches with some moose taped over 60 inches. The hunting season takes
place late September and early October, allowing them to concentrate on
the rut. Calling is the most effective way to draw out the mature bulls.
Watching a mature bull crashing out of the bush is not only a thrilling
experience, it can be down right intimidating! They take two moose hunters
per season
